Jared Leto’s Morbius Defeats Holland’s Spider-Man In Marvel Crossover Art

Recent crossover fan art depicts Jared Leto’s vampire supervillain Morbius defeating Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man after a rain-soaked battle.

In new fan art, Jared Leto’s Morbius defeats Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a “what if?” battle that could eventually make its way to the screen. Leto stars in the upcoming Sony Marvel film Morbius, an origin story about Michael Morbius, a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease that will lead to his premature death. After a failed attempt at a cure, Morbius ends up in a vampire-like state with superhuman abilities. Leto is joined by Matt Smith as Morbius’ friend Milo, Adria Arjona as a fellow scientist and Morbius’ fiancée, and Jared Harris as Nicholas, a mentor and father figure to the future villain.

Sony’s Morbius follows Venom and its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage in a string of releases of origin films for popular Spider-Man villains. Originally slated to be released way back in June of 2020, the film will now release after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the latest Spider-Man film, Dr. Strange and Peter Parker accidentally miscast a spell, leading to a rift in the multiverse and causing previous Sony superhero characters to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the likes of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man.

Recent superhero crossover fan art by venomhology imagines Jared Leto’s Morbius and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man after a rain-soaked battle. In the scene, Morbius stands in the rain at the precipice of an apartment building roof in a city, presumably New York, with Spider-Man held high above his head, about to be tossed to his death. No doubt this is the result of a brutal battle between the web-slinger and the vampire villain. Check out the art below.

With Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes – last seen as the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming – appearing in Morbius and Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom appearing in a post-credits scene in the latest Spider-Man film, a crossover seems inevitable. In a recently released featurette for Morbius, Leto teased a possible meeting between the villain and hero, citing No Way Home‘s multiverse shenanigans. Keaton also appeared in the Morbius trailer, reprising his role as Toomes, further connecting the MCU and Holland’s Spider-Man to Morbius.

While Sony and Marvel have yet to establish a plan for any future crossover events, it is clear that an open-ended interconnected universe is still on the table. With No Way Home being a smash hit at the box office, Sony would undoubtedly want to cash in on that hype with future endeavors. Kraven the Hunter is next on Sony’s Spider-Man villain list. So far no information on Holland’s potential involvement, or any MCU connection has been confirmed. Morbius will hit theaters April 1, 2022.
